This ensures that your veterinary dentist can remove the plaque (oral bacteria) and hard calculus on your pet’s teeth. Regular pet clinic visits can ensure that your pet doesn’t suffer from tooth or gum loss — which can occur in pets as young as three years of age.

After their physical examination, our veterinarians will create a treatment plan catered to your pet’s needs, including any potential blood work required for older pets and anesthetic monitoring for any potential dental extractions that your pet may require. Another important reason for your pet’s dental cleaning or prophylaxis is so that our veterinary hospital can keep an eye out for any oral cancer. Our veterinarians will use an ultrasonic to scale the teeth above and below the gum line to help fight infection with special dental instruments, smoothing the teeth and removing stains from enamel as they go.

After your pet’s procedure, we will demonstrate to you how to take care of your pet’s teeth, highlighting any areas in their mouth that require extra attention, and showing you how to take care of their oral health with tools at home.
